Support for Cristiano Ronaldo remains strong amid criticism following Portugal’s recent match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, shared her views on social media, acknowledging the national team’s disappointing performance while maintaining her brother’s defense.

Katia Aveiro expressed frustration over the team’s lackluster showing, stating that they appeared to struggle with fundamental aspects of the game. In a post on her Instagram, she said,

“The Portuguese national team was a complete DISAPPOINTMENT. The team suddenly forgot how to pass, win the ball, or counterattack. The entire game was played from midfield back to defense. Obviously, they will ONLY blame one person [Ronaldo]. What a shame… Fortunately, he’s got broad shoulders. And anyone who understands football can see the obvious. This World Cup is strange, really strange…”

The sentiment resonated across social media platforms, with fans sharing their thoughts on Portugal’s performance. A tweet from TNT Sports BR highlighted Katia’s critical remarks while adding a playful comment about the tournament’s oddities.

Interestingly, Katia Aveiro’s earlier post appeared to have vanished from her Instagram stories, leaving fans speculating about the motive behind its removal. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has faced an extended goal drought, having not scored in his last ten consecutive matches at major tournaments.
