The friendly match between the national teams of Ukraine and Denmark has been officially abandoned following a distressing incident on the pitch. The game was halted midway through the second half after Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed.
Medical staff quickly responded to the situation, providing urgent assistance to Eriksen, who regained consciousness before walking off the field unaided. The referee made the decision to suspend the match in light of Eriksen’s condition.
Both teams subsequently agreed not to continue the match due to its friendly nature. At the time of the stoppage, Denmark was in the lead, with a score of 2-1.
This incident is particularly poignant, as Eriksen previously experienced a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s European Championship match against Finland in 2021. Since that event, he has resumed his football career with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator.
