Didier Deschamps is set to embrace youth and strong recent performances as he finalizes France’s goalkeeping lineup for the upcoming World Cup. The coach’s decision highlights a commitment to a fresh approach within the squad.

Details: According to Onze Mondial, Lens goalkeeper Robin Risser, who had an impressive season, will be included in the 26-man squad traveling to the tournament. This choice stands out as one of the few surprises in a roster that will otherwise closely resemble the squad called up in March.

The focal point of anticipation surrounded the selection of the third goalkeeper to join Mike Maignan and Brice Samba. PSG’s Lucas Chevalier was called up in March but did not make the final roster for the North American World Cup.

Other candidates considered included West Ham’s Alphonse Areola, who has had limited playing time since January, and Jean Butez from Como. Ultimately, Deschamps opted for Risser, who featured in 37 matches for Lens this season, keeping 12 clean sheets and has yet to receive a call-up to the French national team.
