Dillon Sheppard is set to be appointed as assistant to Fernando da Cruz at Kaizer Chiefs. The former South African youth international has been serving as one of the development coaches for the club and is now slated for a position alongside Cruz.

Sheppard’s familiarity with the first team is noteworthy, as he previously served as an assistant to Arthur Zwane during his tenure as head coach three seasons ago. His role is expected to facilitate the continuity of the club’s playing style, especially as Kaizer Chiefs officially announced da Cruz’s appointment yesterday.

It remains unclear whether Cruz will bring his own assistant, which is typically a common practice when new coaches assume their roles at clubs. However, da Cruz is not entirely unfamiliar with the inner workings of Kaizer Chiefs, having left the club mid-preseason to join the Moroccan Federation when Naseriden Nabi took over as head coach.
