On Instagram, van der Bij announced, “With shattered hearts, we announce that our son passed away during pregnancy,” adding that the baby was expected to arrive in October. She also revealed they had chosen the name Elijah Raphael Gakpo for their son and shared intimate reflections on their grief.
In response to the tragedy, Gakpo issued a heartfelt message requesting privacy, stating, “This is an incredibly difficult time for our family. We ask for respect for our personal space and thank you for your understanding.”
