Esther Okoronkwo is set to make her return to AFC Toronto as she recovers from an injury ahead of the upcoming match against Montreal Roses on Saturday, June 13, at York Lions Stadium.
The Nigerian forward has been sidelined since sustaining a meniscus injury during a Northern Super League match against Halifax Tides FC, which concluded in a goalless draw. Okoronkwo had to be substituted in the first half due to the injury.
Her absence extended over several weeks, during which time AFC Toronto faced a significant loss of attacking options. However, recent updates indicate promising progress in her recovery, as she has been participating in training sessions.
Okoronkwo shared her enthusiasm for returning to the field on Instagram, stating:
“Back on my feet, mission enroute,”
and posted training photos that reflect her journey back to full fitness.
