Robin van Persie, the former renowned striker for Arsenal and Manchester United, has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Feyenoord, a premier football club based in Rotterdam. The decision comes ahead of schedule, marking a significant change for the club despite van Persie’s iconic status in Dutch football.
Feyenoord’s management announced the termination of their cooperation with van Persie, stating that preparations for the upcoming 2026/2027 football season will commence under a new head coach. The leadership expressed gratitude for his contributions during his tenure, although the decision reflects a disappointing end to the current campaign and a pressing need for a shift in strategy.
Under van Persie’s guidance, Feyenoord managed to secure a second-place finish in the Eredivisie. This outcome, however, did not meet the expectations of the club’s management, prompting the decision for a leadership change.
