FIFA has announced a significant change to the regulations for fans attending the upcoming 2026 World Cup, implementing strict restrictions on the items that can be brought into stadiums.
Details: The organization has prohibited the entry of any water bottles, cups, tin cans, or other liquid containers into the arenas. Previously, fans were allowed to bring empty, transparent plastic bottles of up to one liter, but this policy has now been entirely revoked.
The decision has been framed as a safety measure, with FIFA asserting that liquid containers could potentially be used as projectiles by disruptive fans, thereby posing a risk of injury to spectators, staff, and players.
The 2026 World Cup, to be hosted in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, is set to commence on June 11.
The Japanese national team is unhappy with the conditions provided in Mexico ahead of their World Cup preparations.
