Arsenal are planning to offer Mikel Arteta a new contract this summer, with discussions already outlined earlier in the year, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The decision is understood to have been made in March, regardless of how the season finishes. The club officials continue to back Arteta’s long-term project at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta is fully focused on winning trophies this season, but remains committed to the Arsenal project and is open to talks over a new deal.
