वर्ल्ड कप में नीदरलैंड्स की टीम के साथ बने रहेंगे कोडी गाकपो
वर्ल्ड कप के दौरान अपने अजन्मे बेटे को खोने के बावजूद नीदरलैंड्स के खिलाड़ी कोडी गाकपो अपनी टीम के साथ बने रहेंगे।
इस दुखद खबर की पुष्टि शनिवार को गाकपो की पार्टनर और मॉडल नोआ वान डेर बिज ने की। वहीं, इस मुश्किल घड़ी में कोडी गाकपो ने सोशल मीडिया के जरिए लोगों से ‘निजता और स्पेस’ देने की अपील की है।
डच फुटबॉल एसोसिएशन (KNVB) ने एक आधिकारिक बयान जारी कर इस स्थिति पर प्रतिक्रिया दी। एसोसिएशन ने कहा, “सबसे पहले, हम कोडी और उनके परिवार, नोआ और उनके बेटे सैमुअल के प्रति अपनी संवेदना व्यक्त करते हैं। यह एक बहुत ही दुखद निजी स्थिति है।”
बयान में आगे कहा गया, “स्वाभाविक रूप से, हमें इस बारे में जानकारी थी और KNVB हर संभव तरीके से परिवार का समर्थन करने की कोशिश कर रहा है। अपनी गर्लफ्रेंड से सलाह-मशविरा करने के बाद कोडी ने टीम के साथ बने रहने का फैसला किया है।”

बता दें कि नीदरलैंड्स की टीम राउंड ऑफ 32 के मुकाबले में मोरक्को का सामना करेगी। यह मैच मंगलवार, 30 जून को भारतीय समयानुसार (BST) सुबह 2:00 बजे मेक्सिको के एस्टाडियो मोंटेरे में खेला जाएगा।
Cody Gakpo will stay with the Netherlands squad at the World Cup after the loss of his unborn son.
His partner, model Noa van der Bij, confirmed the news on Saturday, while Gakpo took to social media asking for ‘privacy and space’.
In an official statement, the Dutch football association (KNVB) said: “First of all, we sympathise with Cody and his family, Noa and their son Samuel. This is a very sad private situation.
“Naturally, we were already aware of this, and the KNVB is trying to support the family where possible. Cody has decided, in consultation with his girlfriend, to remain with the group.
“We respect their privacy and therefore will not comment further on the situation, including the way in which we are trying to be there for them. We will also not provide any further information on this in the near future. If anything is shared about this, it is up to the family themselves.”
The Netherlands will face Morocco in the Round of 32 clash. The game is scheduled to take place at 2:00 am BST on Tuesday, June 30, at the Estadio Monterrey, Mexico.
