The Argentine has become a central figure in discussions between the two clubs. Madrid must now decide whether to bring him back this summer or allow him to continue his development in Italy, where he has settled well and is reportedly happy to stay for another season.
From Madrid’s side, the idea of an immediate return remains on the table as they assess how he fits into their long-term plans. But timing is crucial, with the buy-back clause set to expire on June 30.
Como are expected in Madrid this week to negotiate directly, with talks likely to intensify as the deadline approaches.
The Spanish club are considering activating their buy-back option, potentially with a view to a later sale – including interest from the Premier League.
Madrid’s preferred formula would see Como sign Paz for around €60m, while Madrid retain a €80m buy-back option. Como, however, are pushing back against that structure.
Paz himself would be open to staying in Como for another year, and that preference could play an important role in the final decision.
