Lens rewrote their history on the iconic grounds of the Stade de France, making a significant mark in football as they clinched the Coupe de France for the first time in their 120-year existence. In a thrilling final, the Blood and Gold triumphed over Nice with a score of 3-1, ending a long-standing wait for the prestigious trophy.

The match began with Lens asserting their dominance. In the 25th minute, seasoned forward Florian Thauvin ignited celebrations among the Lens supporters with a well-placed strike. The team continued to press their advantage, and just before halftime, in the 42nd minute, Odsonne Edouard extended their lead to 2-0.

Nice attempted a comeback just before the break, with Djibril Koulibaly scoring in the third minute of stoppage time to narrow the deficit. In the second half, the Eagles pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Lens’s defense proved resolute. The final score settled at 3-1, marking a historic win for Lens.

This victory is particularly historic for Lens, who had reached the Coupe de France final three times before—specifically in 1948, 1975, and 1998—yet had never lifted the trophy. Their previous appearance in the final was 28 years ago, when they lost 2-1 to PSG. The club now celebrates the breaking of this long-standing curse. Notably, French President Emmanuel Macron was present to witness the match.

On the eve of the Coupe de France final in Paris, chaos erupted as PSG ultras attacked Nice supporters.
