Kylian Mbappe’s wait for a UEFA Champions League title extends as Real Madrid lost to Arsenal in the 2025 quarterfinals. Find out here how many European triumphs Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo boasted at the Frenchman’s age.
Real Madrid failed to complete a comeback against Arsenal in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, which means that Kylian Mbappe has to keep on waiting to join Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the list of players who won the tournament.
The Frenchman arrived in the Spanish capital with high aspirations in the summer, aiming to lift the trophy that eluded him in his home country. It looked like a match made in heaven, with Real Madrid hoping that Mbappe would help them go back-to-back while the striker expected that playing for the defending champs would increase his chances to get his first Champions League medal.
However, the change of scenery wasn’t enough for Kylian so far. After failing to go the distance with AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe is still winless in the Champions League at 26 years old (he turns 27 in December). At his age, both Messi and Ronaldo already knew what continental glory tasted like.
Lionel Messi’s Champions Leagues at Mbappe’s age
Lionel Messi already boasted three UEFA Champions League titles at Mbappe’s age. And when the French star turns 27 in December, the difference will be of four medals. Though the Argentine star didn’t play in the 2006 final, that victory is part of his resúmé as he was a member of Barcelona’s first team by then. Then, Leo went on two win three more trophies with Barca, two of them before turning 26.
