Kelechi Iheanacho scored a dramatic late winner as Celtic secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Motherwell on Wednesday, bolstering their hopes for the Scottish Premiership title.
Motherwell took the lead in the 17th minute with a goal from Elliot Watt. Celtic responded just before halftime, as Daizen Maeda equalised, setting the stage for an intense second half.
In the 58th minute, Benjamin Nygren put Celtic in front, but Motherwell fought back, with Liam Gordon equalising in the 85th minute to make it 2-2. However, just as it seemed the match would end in a draw, Celtic was awarded a stoppage-time penalty after a foul by Sam Nicholson.
Iheanacho calmly converted the penalty in the 97th minute, sealing a crucial win for the visitors. The result means the Scottish Premiership title race will be decided on the final day, with Celtic facing league leaders Heart of Midlothian. Currently, Celtic sits one point behind Hearts heading into Saturday’s decisive clash.
