Ismaël Koné’s World Cup journey has come to an abrupt end due to injury. The 24-year-old central midfielder for Sassuolo and the Canada national team faces a challenging recovery after suffering severe fractures to both the fibula and tibia during the match against Qatar.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Koné will be sidelined for approximately six months as he undergoes surgery. He is currently in the hospital, with his mother by his side as he prepares for the procedure.

Koné’s premature exit from the tournament has been confirmed, and following the incident, Assim Omer Adibo, the player responsible for the injury, visited the dressing room to express his apologies.
