The decision to retire comes after Schmeichel has struggled with a persistent shoulder injury. Following consultations with medical professionals, he concluded that it was time to end his playing career.
Throughout his time in football, Schmeichel played for several notable clubs, including Manchester City, Notts County, Leeds United, Leicester City, Nice, Anderlecht, and Celtic. He also represented the Danish national team, earning 120 caps.
One of Schmeichel’s most significant achievements was winning the Premier League title with Leicester City during the 2015/16 season, where he played a crucial role in their historic victory.
