Merseyside’s Liverpool FC has initiated a search to bolster their defensive lineup following the confirmed departure of Ibrahima Konaté. The club is reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Illia Zabarnyi, a 23-year-old centre-back for Paris Saint-Germain and the Ukraine national team.

Details: According to sources, Liverpool has been presented with the opportunity to acquire Zabarnyi. Preliminary discussions have already taken place between the two parties, although formal negotiations have yet to begin.

The emergence of this potential transfer came as a surprise during a meeting between Liverpool’s management and the agents of Curtis Jones, who put forward the appealing option of the Ukrainian defender. With the recent appointment of Andoni Iraola as head coach, Liverpool may find this option especially enticing, given Iraola’s previous experience with Zabarnyi during their time at Bournemouth.

Zabarnyi has had a notable season so far, participating in 37 matches for PSG and scoring once during a Ligue 1 match against Auxerre. As Liverpool contemplates its next steps, the club must weigh the possibility of advancing these discussions into a formal transfer bid.
