Young Tunisian footballer Louey Ben Farhat is prioritizing his recovery over participating in the upcoming tournament. The Karlsruher striker faced criticism from Eagles of Carthage manager Sabri Lamouchi after he turned down a call-up to the national team, leading to tense exchanges between the player and the coach.

In response, Ben Farhat has chosen to clarify his position, stating that he understands the significance of representing Tunisia but insists that his refusal should not be seen as indifference towards the national squad. He emphasized the respect he holds for the team and its staff.

“This decision was very difficult for me to make. I have enormous respect for the national team, the coaching staff and everyone who works for Tunisian football. My decision in no way reflects a lack of respect towards them,” he said.

The striker explained that his choice is primarily due to his physical condition following a lengthy absence caused by a broken foot, which left him out of action for four months this season. He stressed the importance of focusing on his recovery before returning to competitive play, noting that participating in the World Cup under such circumstances would be a significant burden.
