Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has provided an update on the health of 18-year-old midfielder Lamine Yamal, who is currently recovering from a muscle tear. With just ten days remaining before the World Cup, de la Fuente expressed optimism regarding Yamal’s fitness.

Speaking to reporters, de la Fuente stated,

“Lamine’s recovery is going very well. He’ll be ready for the World Cup, and should be fit for the opening match. Everything is going well for him.”

Yamal’s return to fitness comes as Spain prepares for the tournament, where they have been drawn into Group H. The team will face tough competition from Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Cape Verde.

This announcement comes alongside the news that Spain has selected its squad for the 2026 World Cup, notably without any players from Real Madrid.
