The legendary striker Luis Suárez has expressed his willingness to wear the Uruguay national team jersey again as the upcoming World Cup approaches. This declaration comes more than 18 months after Suárez announced his retirement from international football, stating it was the “right moment” to conclude a 17-year journey with the national team.

Despite his readiness, Suárez’s relationship with current head coach Marcelo Bielsa remains strained. The veteran forward has previously criticized Bielsa’s management style, expressing feelings of hurt due to the environment created under the coach. He warned that the players’ patience with this atmosphere could soon run out.

At 39 years old, the Inter Miami striker holds the record as the top scorer in Uruguay’s history, with 69 goals in 143 matches. His last appearance for La Celeste was in September 2024, and he appears eager to set aside differences for one final opportunity on the global stage.
