Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangaré has been awarded the title of the best African player in France’s Ligue 1 for the 2022-2023 season, succeeding Achraf Hakimi. Sangaré secured a total of 313 points, placing him ahead of Senegalese players Lamine Camara and Moussa Niakhate.
This honor comes after a remarkable season with RC Lens, where Sangaré’s performance has been noted as a standout revelation in the league. In his debut season in top-flight French football, he scored three goals and provided four assists.
Mamadou Sangaré is also recognized for being the first Malian to receive the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Award, which is presented by RFI and France 24.
