Manchester City is making a strong effort to sign Marc Guehi this month.

City has presented an attractive offer to the Crystal Palace captain to counter interest from competitors like Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Liverpool nearly signed Guehi during the summer, but a £35 million deal fell apart close to the deadline.

Guehi is in the final six months of his contract at Selhurst Park and will be available on a free transfer in the summer unless he is sold. However, City aims to secure him due to injuries in their squad.

Currently, Manchester City has Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol out due to hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively, and John Stones is also unavailable. Stones’ contract ends this summer, raising questions about whether he will receive a renewal, given his recent injury history.

City sees Guehi as a valuable option to address their injury challenges. A transfer fee between £30 million and £40 million is believed to be sufficient to convince Palace to sell mid-season, considering Guehi’s expiring deal.

Many clubs interested in Guehi are inclined to wait until summer, when he becomes a free agent, but City’s actions this month could spark competing offers.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that City’s efforts are progressing, following a significant offer made to the player.
