Manchester City remains under investigation for 115 alleged breaches of financial fair play regulations, a situation drawing criticism from former Manchester United star Gary Neville. On The Overlap podcast, Neville expressed his dissatisfaction with the duration of the inquiry, highlighting that other clubs have faced swifter consequences for similar issues.
Quote: “It is a disgrace that the investigation [115 charges] against Manchester City is taking so long! It is absolutely shocking! Meanwhile, Everton and Nottingham Forest have already been punished,” Neville stated, emphasizing the need for timely resolution.
The inquiry into Manchester City’s financial practices has reportedly been ongoing for over a year, with no final verdict reached as yet. After hearings concluded in December 2024, an independent commission, appointed by the Football Association, is continuing to review the extensive evidence collected during the proceedings.
This investigation spans a significant period, covering records from 2009 to 2018. The tribunal included a substantial volume of evidence, consisting of approximately 500,000 documents and materials presented by the involved parties.
