Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has announced that the club is currently in discussions regarding contracts for Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire.
Maguire’s current contract expires this summer, making him one of the team’s highest-paid players.
Mainoo is under contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year. His position seemed uncertain after he had limited opportunities under the previous manager, Ruben Amorim, but he has played a key role since Carrick took over.
According to Sky Sports News, talks with both players are at an “advanced stage,” although no final agreement has been reached yet, and further discussions are planned. There is hope that both contracts will be finalized by April.
Mainoo is expected to receive a “significant pay rise,” extending his contract until 2031. The details of Maguire’s new salary are still being discussed, with negotiations focused on a one-year extension that includes an option for a further year.

After the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, Carrick stated: “Contract negotiations with players are always ongoing. We hope it all gets sorted out properly.”
“Both players have been outstanding, and being recalled to the England squad is well-deserved. I won’t comment on how close we are to an agreement, but they’ve performed well.”
