Canada national team defender Alphonso Davies will not take part in tonight’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first round of the 2026 World Cup.
Canada coach Jesse Marsch confirmed the news:
“On Wednesday], we got an MRI done for Davies. The results showed very good signs that he is recovering incredibly quickly, almost completely. We are preparing for a gradual increase in his workload. I think, as always, he is demonstrating a very good ability to recover from muscle injuries,” Marsch said.
Davies, who plays for Bayern Munich, suffered the injury on May 6 during the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against PSG (1-1).
