Joselu has delivered one of the most emotional interviews of his career, admitting that leaving Real Madrid is a decision that still weighs heavily on him.
Speaking on Iker Casillas’ podcast Bajo los Palos, the Spanish striker, now at Al Gharafa in Qatar, reflected on his journey through football, from humble beginnings to playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
He recalled his early conversations with Carlo Ancelotti: “He called me… and I can tell you the first month was tough, I took a lot of criticism.” Joselu also admitted that adapting to Real Madrid’s demands was not easy at first, but said he always valued the experience.
One of the most talked-about moments was his reflection on pressure: “At Madrid, pressure is knowing that if you have a bad year, nobody wants you next season. But honestly, I’ve felt pressure my whole career.”
He also revisited the famous Bayern Munich VAR incident: “For me it felt like forever… I lost track of time, it was like 30 minutes.”
But the most emotional words came when discussing his exit: “Leaving Real Madrid will stay with me forever. What I lived there, I will never live again.”
Still, he stressed the decision was made for his family and their future.
