ലോകകപ്പ്: ജന്മനാടിനെതിരെ കളിക്കാൻ തയ്യാറെടുത്ത് സെനഗൽ താരം മാമദൂ സർ
ചെൽസിയുടെ സെന്റർ ബാക്കായ മാമദൂ സർ ഫ്രാൻസിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്. ഫ്രാൻസിന്റെ വിവിധ യൂത്ത് ടീമുകൾക്ക് വേണ്ടിയും അണ്ടർ 20 ടീമിന് വേണ്ടിയും താരം കളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
എന്നാൽ, കഴിഞ്ഞ നവംബറിൽ താരം തന്റെ രാജ്യാന്തര കരിയറിൽ സെനഗലിനെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. ഇതോടെ ലോകകപ്പ് ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ഘട്ടത്തിലെ ആദ്യ മത്സരത്തിൽ താൻ ജനിച്ചുവളർന്ന രാജ്യമായ ഫ്രാൻസിനെ നേരിടാനുള്ള അവസരം താരത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
ചെൽസിയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വെബ്സൈറ്റിന് നൽകിയ അഭിമുഖത്തിൽ തന്റെ പിതാവും മുൻ സെനഗൽ താരവുമായിരുന്ന പാപെ സറിനെക്കുറിച്ച് മാമദൂ സർ ഓർമിച്ചു. 2002-ലെ ലോകകപ്പിൽ ഫ്രാൻസിനെതിരെ സെനഗൽ നേടിയ ചരിത്രവിജയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പിതാവ് തന്നോട് പങ്കുവെച്ച കാര്യങ്ങൾ താരം വിവരിച്ചു.
“ആ മത്സരത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്,” സർ പറഞ്ഞു.
“സെനഗലും ഫ്രാൻസും തമ്മിലുള്ള മത്സരം എനിക്ക് വളരെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. ഞാൻ ഫ്രാൻസിലാണ് ജീവിച്ചത്, വളർന്നതും അവിടെയാണ്. രണ്ട് രാജ്യങ്ങളും എന്റേതാണ്.”
“ഈ നിമിഷത്തിന് വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവൻ സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്,” താരം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
Chelsea centre-back Mamadou Sarr was born in France and represented Les Bleus at different youth levels up to the U20 team.
However, having switched his international allegiance to Senegal in November last year, he will now have a chance to face the country of his birth in the World Cup group stage opener.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Sarr recalled his father, ex-Senegal international Pape Sarr, telling him about the historic win over France at the 2002 World Cup.
“He told me the history of that game,” said Sarr.
“Senegal playing France means a lot to me because I lived in France, I grew up in France. Both are my countries.
“I dream all my life for this moment.”
