മുൻ ഇറ്റലി താരമായ അക്വിലാനി, നേരത്തെ കാറ്റൻസാരോയുടെ പരിശീലകനായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കീഴിൽ ടീം സെരി ബി-യിൽ അഞ്ചാം സ്ഥാനത്തെത്തിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ പ്ലേ-ഓഫ് ഫൈനലിൽ മോൻസയോട് പരാജയപ്പെട്ടതോടെ (0-2, 2-0) ടീമിന് പ്രൊമോഷൻ ലഭിച്ചില്ല. ലീഗിൽ കൂടുതൽ പോയിന്റ് നേടിയതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് മോൻസ പ്രൊമോഷൻ ഉറപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

Sassuolo have appointed Alberto Aquilani as their new head coach, the club confirmed on their official website.
Details of the agreement have not been disclosed, although Sky Sport Italia reports that the 41-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Serie A side. Aquilani replaces Fabio Grosso, who recently left his position at the club.
The former Italy international arrives after a spell in charge of Catanzaro, where he guided the team to fifth place in Serie B. Catanzaro later fell short of promotion after losing to Monza in the play-off final (0-2, 2-0), with Monza going through due to their higher regular-season finish.
Sassuolo finished 11th in Serie A last season and will now look to rebuild under Aquilani’s leadership ahead of the new campaign.
