The pre-match stuff before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup saw all the participating nations’ flags shown to the fans at the Azteca Stadium.
Before Mexico and South Africa took the field for the match, the different flags were shown as a mark of respect to all teams playing in the tournament.
However, just as the USA flag was shown to the fans – loud booing could be heard ringing around the stadium from the Mexican fans.
They changed their tune right afterwards as their own national flag was paraded around, going from booing to loudly cheering.
The USA, of course, are one of the major co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will also be hosting the World Cup final!
