José Mourinho is set to officially assume the role of head coach at Real Madrid on July 13, and he has once again captured attention with his characteristic humor.

The Portuguese manager recently appeared on the podcast Beast Mode On, hosted by former footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa, where he openly discussed the current dynamics at the club.

When asked by journalists about Real Madrid players participating in the 2026 World Cup, Mourinho provided a witty response that showcased his trademark irony.

“I want Real Madrid’s players to lose at the World Cup. Why? Because I want them back under my command as soon as possible for preseason preparations,” the legendary Portuguese coach said with a smile.

This remark alluded to Mourinho’s concern that an extended World Cup run could hinder his plans for a comprehensive preseason with the team’s key players.

Real Madrid also addressed inquiries regarding Nico Paz’s future with a final response to Como.
