Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made a highly anticipated return from injury, but his efforts were not enough to save Galatasaray from a 2-0 loss against Gençlerbirliği in their Turkish Cup match at Rams Park on Wednesday.

Osimhen had been sidelined since suffering a forearm fracture during a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Liverpool at Anfield. His comeback presents a significant advantage for both his club and the national team after an extended period off the field.

The Nigerian international was substituted in late during the match, replacing Renato Nhaga with just over ten minutes left. However, despite his addition to the squad, Galatasaray could not turn the tide of the game.

The victory for Gençlerbirliği was secured by goals from Fıratcan Üzüm and Adama Traoré, which propelled them into the next round while eliminating Galatasaray from the tournament.
