Morocco’s manager, Mohamed Ouahbi, is urging caution despite the growing praise for his team as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup. The Atlas Lions are set to face the Netherlands on Tuesday, June 30, in the round of 32, as the tournament unfolds across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
At a press conference prior to the match, Ouahbi dismissed speculation about Morocco being considered among the favorites. He emphasized the importance of demonstrating their capabilities on the field rather than engaging in pre-match discussions.
“Whether we’re favourites or not, I’m not interested. That’s what people are talking about. What matters is what happens on the pitch,” Ouahbi stated. He acknowledged the respect his team has garnered but reiterated the necessity of proving their worth during matches. “We’ve already played a great match against Brazil, and tomorrow will be another great match,” he added.
