Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made history by becoming Champions League champions for the first time after defeating Inter Milan 5–0 in the final at the Allianz Arena Stadium in Munich on Sunday morning (1 June 2025) IST.
PSG’s five goals, which secured victory for the French club, were scored by Achraf Hakimi, Desire Doue (2), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu. This victory also made them the 11th club to win the Champions League title.
PSG relied on Ousmane Dembélé in the front line, while Inter Milan fielded Lautaro Martínez in attack. The Champions League final was refereed by Istfan Kovacs from Romania.
PSG coach Luis Enrique relied on a 4-3-3 formation, fielding Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue. They were supported by João Neves, Vitinha, and Fabián Ruiz.
In the back row, PSG fielded Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Parocho and Nuno Mendes, who were tasked with protecting goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Meanwhile, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi opted for a 3-5-2 formation. His goalkeeper was Yann Sommer, guarded by a back line consisting of Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni.
The midfield consisted of Denzel Dumfries, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Çalhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Federico Dimarco. The front line was entrusted to the duo of Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.
PSG are determined to win their first Champions League title, while Inter are trying to prevent them and win the trophy for the fourth time after their victories in 1964, 1965 and 2010.
PSG took the lead after only 12 minutes thanks to Achraf Hakimi’s goal. This started with a pass from Vitinha to Desire Doue. Doué then passed to Hakimi, who responded with a quick right-footed shot that goalkeeper Yann Sommer could not anticipate.
Meanwhile, Doué scored Inter’s second goal in the 20^(th) minute. He found the back of the net following an assist from Ousmane Dembélé. Doué then beat goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a shot from his right foot.
Inter almost reduced the deficit in the 37th minute. Striker Marcus Thuram headed Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s pass. However, the French player’s header went wide to the right of the goal. PSG’s 2-0 lead lasted until half-time.
Inter made two substitutions in the 54th minute. Federico Dimarco was replaced by Nicola Zalewski, while Yann Bisseck came on for Benjamin Pavard. However, Bisseck only played six minutes. He was replaced due to injury.
Matteo Darmian then replaced him. Simone Inzaghi also took off Henrikh Mkhitaryan and brought on Carlos Neves.
PSG almost increased their lead in the 61^(st) minute with a counter-attack. Achraf Hakimi unleashed a right-footed shot from the right side of the penalty box, but it was blocked.
PSG then extended their lead to 4–0 with goals from Desire Doué in the 63rd minute and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 73rd minute. Doué scored his second goal of the match by tapping in a Vitinha pass.
Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia also got on the scoreboard in the 73rd minute. Taking advantage of a pass from Ousmane Dembélé, the former Napoli player took the ball into the penalty box and unleashed a left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
PSG threatened Inter’s goal again in the 81^(st) minute. He fired a shot from close range into Inter’s goal. Unfortunately, his efforts failed to produce a goal as the ball went wide.
In the 86th minute, Inter sealed their victory when substitute Senny Mayulu scored. Receiving a pass from Bradley Barcola, Mayulu then fired a shot from a difficult angle to bring his team to a 5–0 lead. This score held until the end of the match.
