Newcastle faces a tough challenge in keeping their key player.

Transfer discussions begin well ahead of the official window.

Details: Journalist Graeme Bailey recently shared on his X social media page that agents for 25-year-old Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali have approached Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez with their client’s availability.

While Tonali prefers to remain in England, his team is also exploring a potential move to Madrid.

Reportedly, he is being viewed as a backup option for Real Madrid if they cannot sign Rodri.

Tonali’s agents have informed Real Madrid that Newcastle would allow the player to leave for £80 million, a fee that is manageable for the club.

However, Madrid is not hurrying to negotiate with Tonali, as they believe they can still secure Rodri.

This season, Tonali has played 47 matches for Newcastle, scoring 3 goals and making 7 assists. His current market value is estimated at €80 million by Transfermarkt.

Reminder: Manchester United has withdrawn from the competition for a Premier League star due to budget constraints.
