After a strong win under new manager Marko Mitrovic, the New England Revolution aim to maintain their momentum in their match against St. Louis City on Saturday.

The Revolution (1-2-0, 3 points) celebrated a significant 6-1 victory over FC Cincinnati last week, matching their record for the most goals in a single game, which was last achieved in 2004.

This win was also Mitrovic’s first as a head coach in MLS, after previously leading the U-20 national team.

“This game can help us believe more in ourselves,” Mitrovic stated on Thursday.

Luca Langoni stood out with three assists, including two from corner kicks, after being a part-time starter over the last two seasons.

Defender Brayan Cellabos scored twice with headers on set pieces, marking his first brace in MLS.

“It has been a huge mindset change from the first two games,” said midfielder Brooklyn Raines. “The win over Cincinnati has been crucial for the team, and we want to build on that.”

In contrast, St. Louis City (0-3-1, 1 point) is still looking for their first win, having scored just one goal this season, the lowest in MLS.

Statistically, St. Louis City has the upper hand in their last two matches, leading with 31-25 in shots and 17-6 in corner kicks.

They performed well for much of the match on Saturday but lost 2-0 to unbeaten Los Angeles FC.

“It’s frustrating to leave that game feeling we probably dominated them for 50, 60 minutes,” midfielder Chris Durkin said. “It was encouraging, but we need to be smarter.”

First-year coach Yoann Damet noted some defensive improvements but emphasized the need for more offensive effort.

“I want to see more commitment in going forward and attacking the box,” Damet stated.

Mitrovic acknowledged that facing St. Louis will be a “great challenge.”

“They’ve performed better than their results suggest,” Mitrovic said.
