Ricardo Goss has labeled the criticism directed at Bafana Bafana coach as ‘unrealistic’ following the team’s 2-0 defeat to Mexico. Goss, serving as the second-choice goalkeeper, expressed support for the Belgian coach, emphasizing that he should not be solely blamed for the loss against the World Cup co-hosts.

“It’s just unfortunate that we aren’t realistic enough as South Africa. I’m not saying we shouldn’t try to win games, but I think it’s unfair on the coach,” Goss stated. He praised the coach’s commitment to the national team, calling it a significant achievement that has been lacking for some time.

While acknowledging the coach’s disappointment after the recent defeat, Goss assured that the coach would eventually return to a more familiar, light-hearted interaction with the team. “We know that he will come at us, but we know that after the session he’ll go back to being our father and make jokes with us. We still love him and we’re going to play for him,” he added.
