Rivers United faced a distressing incident on Thursday as the team was involved in a road accident while en route to Awka, Anambra State, for their President’s Federation Cup Round of 16 match against Nasarawa United.
The accident reportedly took place along the Obiri-Ikwerre Airport Road, just outside Port Harcourt, shortly after the team left their training camp.
In an official statement, the club confirmed that several players and officials experienced minor injuries. Thankfully, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported.
