Riyad Mahrez has made history by joining Roger Milla in the record books. On June 28, 2026, during the final matchday of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup, the Algerian forward scored two goals against Austria.
At the age of 35 years and 4 months, Mahrez’s performance has positioned him as the second-oldest African player to score a brace in a World Cup match. He now trails only the legendary Cameroonian striker Roger Milla, who achieved the same feat at 38 during the 1990 World Cup.
