Liam Rosenior emphasized that qualifying for the Champions League must be the goal for Chelsea to consider the season a success.

Chelsea is set to play against Aston Villa tonight at Villa Park, a crucial match for both teams’ hopes of European qualification.

A victory would lift Chelsea above Liverpool into fifth place, a spot that is likely to secure Champions League participation, given England’s top ranking.

Rosenior acknowledged that anything short of reaching Europe’s top competition would be disappointing and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to win trophies as well.

Following the match with Aston Villa, Chelsea will compete against Wrexham in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

In his pre-match press conference, Rosenior stated: “A successful season for Chelsea has to be qualifying for the Champions League. We still have a strong chance of achieving that. Winning a trophy would also be fantastic, and I believe it’s within our reach.”
