Several Senegal supporters who were detained in Morocco following the Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year have returned home following a royal pardon from the Moroccan king. The Senegalese Football Federation confirmed that the group arrived at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass at approximately 1 am local time on Sunday.

Upon their arrival, they received a warm welcome from Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who was present to greet them at Dakar’s international airport. President Faye expressed his happiness at having the fans back safely in Senegal.

“We’re very happy to have them back on Senegalese soil,” he said while dressed in Senegal national team colours.
