Arne Slot has ruled Liverpool out of the title race, stating that there are only two teams realistically in contention for the Premier League this season.

Liverpool is having a tough time defending their title, currently placed fourth after a disappointing draw with Leeds on New Year’s Day. They find themselves 12 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s match against Fulham, Slot believes the title will be contested between Arsenal, who are at the top of the table, and Manchester City, who are in second place.

“Realistically, I think there are two teams,” Slot mentioned during his pre-match press conference.

“Villa is close, but Arsenal has created some distance by beating Villa. Those two teams are quite far ahead of us, and we shouldn’t focus on them right now.”

“We’ve faced our own challenges. We started strong, but then we went through a tough phase where we were consistently unlucky, despite close games.”

“Now, we are unbeaten in eight games, but it doesn’t feel like we are dominant in the league. Every match demands hard work from us. We are usually the better team, but we still need more.”
