Maema is in Tanzania on loan from Betway Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns for the current campaign.
Neo Maema has thanked his Simba SC teammates for his Man of the Match award after their 2-0 victory over Coastal Union in the Tanzanian Premier League last night.
The South African midfielder received the award at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as his team closed the gap on league leaders Young Africans to four points.
This match marked Maema’s first full 90 minutes in Tanzania, where he contributed to both goals scored.
“After the FIFA break, it’s tough to come together as a team,” he said in a club interview.
“We could have performed better in the first half, but the Man of the Match title reflects the team’s overall effort.
“Individual awards show our collective hard work. I want to thank my teammates for their support in securing the three points.
“I aimed to play at least 80 minutes today, and I’m glad I made it to 90 minutes.
“This win is for our fans. I appreciate their support and hope they keep backing us.
“We can feel their energy in the stands, especially during tough moments on the pitch.
“I encourage them to come in large numbers on Sunday to be our 12th man.
“We trust and love them, and we aim to win the three points for them this Sunday.”
