Taiwo Awoniyi marked his 100th appearance for Nottingham Forest with an exceptional performance, scoring twice in a decisive 3-1 victory against Chelsea.
The Nigerian striker made his mark early in the match, netting his first goal just two minutes in, courtesy of a well-placed cross from Dilane Bakwa.
Forest extended their lead in the 15th minute when Igor Jesus converted a penalty following a favorable VAR decision.
Awoniyi returned to the scoresheet after half-time, securing his brace in the 52nd minute with a finish that capped off a well-executed move assisted by Morgan Gibbs-White, putting Forest ahead 3-0. Chelsea managed a late goal through Joao Pedro in stoppage time, but it offered little challenge to Forest’s commanding performance.
