Thibaut Courtois has rejoined his boyhood club in a new capacity, taking on the role of an investor at KRC Genk. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who currently plays for Real Madrid and the Belgium national team, now shoulders responsibility for the club’s future.

Today, it was officially announced that Courtois has invested in the Belgian football side, a significant move that symbolizes his deep-rooted connection to Genk, where he began his professional career.

“I feel energy and ambition within me. This investment feels like coming home,” Courtois stated.

Alongside NXTPLAY, Courtois is making long-term investments in KRC Genk. This initiative marks the first step in a broader capital increase program aimed at further strengthening the club. The investment could bring in up to 60 million euros over the coming years.

As a product of Genk’s academy, Courtois left the team in 2011 to join Chelsea in London. During his time at Genk, he made 45 appearances, conceding 49 goals and keeping 14 clean sheets.
