Declan Rice may have sustained an injury during England’s victory over Croatia in their World Cup opener. Head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed concern for the player’s health during the post-match press conference.
Tuchel revealed that he opted to substitute Rice, who began limping during the match, in the 72nd minute to avoid any further complications. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing player welfare, stating that he would typically never substitute Rice.
“I hope they’re all right, because normally I would never substitute Declan, but I didn’t want to take any risks,” Tuchel noted.
