Unprecedented ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup final have emerged on FIFA’s official resale platform, provoking widespread reactions from fans around the world. With less than two months to go until the tournament begins, the financial demands associated with attending the event have raised eyebrows.

The Guardian reports that four category 1 tickets for the final, scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New York, are priced at approximately $2.3 million each, equating to just under 2 million euros per ticket. This means the total for a set of four tickets exceeds $9.1 million.

FIFA has clarified that it does not set the resale prices, which are established by individual sellers on the official platform. Even the relatively “affordable” tickets remain prohibitively expensive, with the cheapest options priced at around 10,000 euros.

The escalating ticket costs have sparked significant criticism of FIFA, which is already under scrutiny for the rising prices associated with the tournament. This controversy coincides with the approaching dates for the event, set to take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
