Orlando Pirates right back Tshepho Mashiloane has joined Sekhukhune United on loan, effective from the deadline day.

This transfer comes just two months after the 23-year-old moved to Soweto from Baroka FC, reflecting the intensity of competition for the number two spot at the Buccaneers.

His new coach at Sekhukhune, Tinkler, stated that Mashiloane was brought in for his flexibility on the field. “He is similar to Matsimbi, who played as a centre back for Black Leopards. I converted him to a right-back, and he can perform in both roles,” Tinkler mentioned during the Carling Knockout Cup media day.

“He can play as a right-centre back in a back four, or as a right fullback. If I opt for a back three, he might also serve as a wingback,” the former Pirates coach added.

Sekhukhune is set to face Golden Arrows in the Carling Knockout last 16 on Saturday at 18:00 at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
