Argentina vs Spain Finalissima: Expected date for the highly anticipated match

Even though this matchup ranks among the most highly anticipated by fans, organizing it presents serious challenges. With the FIFA Club World Cup scheduled for 2025 and the FIFA World Cup set for 2026, both coaching staffs need to agree on a suitable window.

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul reports that March 2026 stands out as the only realistic option. By then, Argentina will have completed their World Cup qualifying campaign, and Spain will not have any European qualifiers scheduled. Still, finalizing a specific date remains complicated, as the timing falls uncomfortably close to the start of the 2026 World Cup.

Argentina vs. Spain match history: Results of their most recent meetings

Although Argentina have dominated the international scene in recent years, Spain controls the recent head-to-head record. The Spanish national team won three of the last five meetings between the two sides. In their most recent clash, Spain secured a commanding 6-1 victory. That result left a lasting impression.

However, this upcoming match could follow a different script. Lionel Scaloni’s project has shown remarkable consistency and strength. Argentina also come in as the reigning champion, after beating Italy in 2022. But Spain now relies on a fresh generation of young talent. These rising stars aim to challenge the world champions and push Spain back among soccer’s elite.
