In a significant development for the ongoing World Cup, female referee Tori Penso is set to officiate the crucial Group A match between Bafana Bafana and Czechia. This match marks an important opportunity for the South African team to secure their first victory in this year’s tournament.
Penso, a native of the United States, will lead the officiating crew as Bafana Bafana, under the guidance of Belgian coach Hugo Broos, attempts to bounce back from their previous loss. The team is currently winless in the tournament after suffering a 2-0 defeat to co-hosts Mexico last Thursday.
The match against Czechia is pivotal for the South African side as they strive to improve their standing in the group. Penso will be assisted by fellow American referees Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt, while New Zealander Campbell-Kirk Kawana-Waugh will serve as the fourth official.
