In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025–2026 Confederation Cup, USM Alger triumphed over Zamalek SC in a penalty shoot-out during the second leg of the final. The match took place on Saturday, May 16, at the Cairo International Stadium.
USM Alger entered the second leg with a slight advantage, having secured a 1-0 victory in the first encounter held in Algeria. However, Zamalek SC equalized in the second leg, leveling the aggregate score to 1-1. Despite both teams’ offensive efforts, no additional goals were scored during normal time, necessitating a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.
In the decisive shoot-out, USM Alger demonstrated their composure and skill by converting 8 penalties, while Zamalek managed to score 7. This victory ultimately crowned USM Alger as champions of the tournament.
